Hank Williams lll is releasing his new cd "Damn Right, Rebel Proud" on October 21st, 2008. The long awaited cd is finally here. Curb Records, Hanks old label, will be releasing a special collector's edition tin box set with three of Hanks previous albums on August 21st. Hanks new album "Damn Right, Rebel Proud" Is not from Curb Records, It is being put out by Hank as was his last cd, "Straight To Hell"

A radio show you should know about

For 18 years in Reno, Nevada, Uncle Dondo has been hosting "The Risky Biscuit Hayseed Hoot" Every Saturday morning. The 'Risky Biscuit Hayseed Hoot" Is two hour radio program. Dondo plays a mix of insurgent country, Americana: country, folk, bluegrass, singer/ song writter, twang, spoken word, humor etc. It's not just the music he plays that make it a great show, Dondo is truely one of the best DJ's ever to host a radio show.
I have been listening for 15 years, every Saturday morning. When I moved to Arizona to run the Colorado River for the summer of 1998, I didn't know what to do with myself every Saturday morning without his radio show. Every March, he does a special tribute show to the great Edward Abbey. It has become a favorite here in Reno, Nevada. Dondo has moved up to Montana, but still broadcast his show every Saturday morning on 100.1 The X in Reno , Nevada. And the podcast of "The Risky Biscuit Hayseed Hoot" is available on his website. There is a link on my blog to the podcast. I highly recommend you check it out, if you hear it once, I bet you will become a regular listener. It is that good, He calls it "Free Range Radio.

Jason and The Scorchers to receive Lifetime Achievement award

Jason and the Scorchers are going to receive The Americana Music Association's lifetime Achievement award on September 18th at the annual Americana Honors and Awards show at the Ryman Auditorium on Nashville, Tn. They are going to play the show with their original lineup, Jason Ringenberg, Perry Baggs, Warner Hodges, and Jeff Johnson.
I think they are one of the earliest "Alt Country" Bands, Their first album came out in 1984, but "cow Punk" might better describe their sound.

Foundation of Johnny Cash's home to be preserved

Johnny Cash's home has recently burned down. The new owner, "Barry Gibb" formerly of the "Bee Gee's" has vowed to preserve the foundation that is left, for people to come visit. The entire home was destroyed by fire, see my earlier blog post for more info on that story.
Barry Gibb and his wife Linda said they would build their home on the hill above the Cash home site. They plan to write songs there, as Johnny and June had done since 1968.
Johnny Cash must be rollin in his grave since his home burned down, and a Bee Gee did it. Here is what I think he would say to Barry Gibb......See Photo above...

MY new Music video's

Well, they are new to you. I made these music video's in 2005. I have been trying to get them onto the internet ever since. I dont know what I did different this time than before but it worked. So please check em' out.
"My Buckets Got A hole In It" is my favorite video, My wife and I drove all over Nevada filming this thing. From Reno to Vegas and back on March 20th 2005. That was my 35th b-day, my gift from my wife was to go to all these locations to film my music video.
"I Saw The Light" was mostly filmed in Reno and Virginia City, Nevada. The video starts with me and my brother being interviewed on the radio station I now work at, 100.1 THE X. The big stage you see me on sometimes in the video is at Harrah's Reno. I was opening for the 80's band "Berlin" at Harrah's.
"I Would" Is a video I made for my wife. Mostly shot in Maui, Hawaii, It was our honeymoon.

Johnny Cash's home destroyed by fire

Johnny Cash and June Carter called the Tennessee wooden house ‘home’ from 1968 to 2003. Fire has destroyed it now. According to Hendersonville, Tenn., officials, the fire was probably caused by a spark that ignited wood preservative fumes at the home of the late Johnny and June Carter Cash. Within three hours of firefighters having been alerted Tuesday, the roof collapsed and flames and smoke billowed from the home, charring trees and grass that surrounded the structure, The (Nashville) Tennessean said. Inside, all that could be seen standing was metal scaffolding. Hendersonville Fire Chief Jamie Steele said the home's multi-leveled design made it difficult for firefighters. Also, the nearest hydrant was several blocks away. “For a firefighter, when you hear unique it's going to be hard. All the things that made it a unique and attractive home made it harder to fight the fire,” Steele said. June Carter Cash died in May 2003 and Johnny Cash died a few months later, in September. The home is now owned by Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees. It was going through renovations when the merciless fire broke out. One firefighter suffered minor injuries. All the workmen escaped the flames. The local newspaper, The Hendersonville Star News, quoted a fire official as saying that the fire probably started when fumes from a wood preservative being used in the renovations were ignited by a spark. According to the Nashville Tennessean, the house was the scene of numerous legendary jams with Cash, Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, and newer-generation country stars like Vince Matthews and Larry Gatlin. The house also featured in the famous video for Cash's version of the Nine Inch Nails song “Hurt.” The property was purchased by Barry Gibb in January last year. Gibb and his wife, Linda, had said they planned to restore the home on Old Hickory Lake and hoped to write songs there. They had not yet moved in to the home, which they bought for a reported $2.3m (€1.7m). Gibb’s spokesman, Paul Bloch, said the singer and his family are “both saddened and devastated by the news.” At the time of purchase, Gibb described buying the house as an honor and spoke of his determination to preserve it in honor of its late owners. The Hendersonville Star News said the renovations were in the final stages; the newspaper quoted a friend of Gibbs' as saying that the singer hoped to move in during the summer.
